Self-hosting is cool because it gives you complete control over your digital world—you’re not relying on someone else’s servers, limits, or rules. When you run your own services, whether it’s media platforms like Jellyfin, Plex, or Kavita, or interactive tools and servers like Minecraft, n8n, or Nginx, you’re essentially building your own internet powered by your hardware and your choices. It’s customizable, private, and endlessly rewarding, because every time you spin up a new service, you learn something, fix something, or make something work in a way that big platforms never let you. It’s tech independence—and it feels good.
